Exhibitions and art at the library

In addition to the current exhibition, we have art in several different places in the library.

Wallcharts

The current exhibition "Wallcharts" shows some of our old posters. They have been used in teaching over time to convey knowledge about animals, disease, experiments, production and much more and are fine examples of data visualization via charts

Vild og tæmmet

On the ground floor we also have the exhibition "Wild and Tamed", which is set up by the Veterinary Collections. It looks at life as a wild animal in captivity. Many of the preparations in the collection come from veterinarian Erik Eriksen's career at the Agricultural University and at the Zoo.

Lin utzon

The entrance hall was decorated by Lin Utzon in 1994 for the library's opening

Doctrine of Fittings

On the ground floor we have on the wall, farthest from the entrance, hanging an illustration, which begins the chapter on the Doctrine of Fittings in the distinguished folio work Cours d'hippiatrique ou Traité complet de la medédine des Chevaux, 1772 by Philippe-Étienne de la Fosse (1738-1820) . The book is richly illustrated - especially with many spectacular color boards

Luna

On the floor by the counter is Erik Lemcke's sculpture, Luna

The Danish Restraining Harness

Before surgery the veterinarian had to strap down the horse with a restraining harness. This harness was developed by the founder of the Danish Veterinary School P.C. Abildgaard (1740-1801) and subsequently named after him. Veterinary students in Denmark were trained in the use of this harness from around 1800-1962 - hereafter replaced with anaesthesia. It was also used in other countries and in older textbooks referred to as The Danish Restraining Harness
