Discounts and waivers on APC (publishing fee)
Employees and students at University of Copenhagen are entitled to various APC discounts and waivers due to the university library's and the Royal Danish Library's license agreements with publishers.
NOTE:
- Visiting researchers and emeriti are not covered by the agreements.
- To be eligible for APC discounts and waivers, the submitting corresponding author must be affiliated with UCPH or the region when the article is accepted for publication.
- If there is more than one corresponding author, it is important that the corresponding author from UCPH handles the submission, as the waiver or discount will not be activated otherwise.
There is a national cap on the annual number of published Open Access articles in the waiver agreements with:
- Cambridge University Press
- Springer (Springer Compact)
- Taylor & Francis
It will not be possible to know in advance whether an article can be published before the quota is reached. The APC waiver is only activated when the manuscript is accepted for publication, not when it is submitted to the journal. In other words, there is no guarantee that the APC will be waived, as this depends on whether there are still APC-free publication slots available within the quota of the relevant agreement at the time the manuscript is accepted for publication.
Horizon Europe and Horizon 2020 require Open Access publishing. If you are publishing under a Horizon grant, it is recommended to contact KUB Research Support before submitting to a journal under one of the three above-mentioned agreements.
The information below is indicative only and subject to change. Copenhagen University Library is not responsible if a publisher changes price, discount or license form.
