Projects and collaboration

Copenhagen University Library collaborates closely with Roskilde University Library and Aarhus University Library to support researchers and promote Open Science initiatives. Moreover, the library participates in various national and international collaborations and projects aimed at developing and harmonising services related to Open Science.

Copenhagen University Library is represented in the Knowledge Exchange Open Access Expert Group, which collaborates on developing infrastructure to promote Open Access publishing.

Knowledge Exchange is an international cooperation involving six national organisations in Europe, and Denmark is represented by DeiC.

Copenhagen University Library represents UCPH in the Danish Network for Open Access. The network consists of employees from Danish educational institutions working with Open Access publishing in various capacities. The purpose of the Network is to exchange knowledge and discuss practical matters and challenges that the institutions encounter in their daily work with Open Access.

The network organises the annual event ‘Danish Open Access Week’, which features a series of webinars on Open Access-related topics.

Citizen Science projects are scientific projects where citizens are invited to contribute to the research. Citizen Science is a widespread research method across all major research areas at UCPH. Data generated through Citizen Science projects are an important source for researchers, for example those working on the 2030 agenda for sustainable development or investigating biodiversity, pollution, archaeological exploration, or socio-economic studies requiring broad observations.

In collaboration with UCPH, Copenhagen University Library contributes to raising awareness about Citizen Science. This effort is aimed at researchers at UCPH as well as citizens in Denmark who wish to contribute to Citizen Science projects. This work is among other things relevant for recruiting and retaining participants in Citizen Science projects.

Moreover, the library monitors international developments in Citizen Science through engagement in ECSA and LIBER, gathering relevant knowledge for the benefit of UCPH’s work on Citizen Science.

Establishing a Citizen Science lab at UCPH – a strategic development project

Copenhagen University Library supports the process of establishing a Citizen Science lab at UCPH, which brings together relevant Citizen Science resources. Currently, the focus of the lab is The Faculty of Science, where the goal is to make it easier for researchers to use Citizen Science as a method, qualify the use of Citizen Science, and highlight the opportunity for citizens in Denmark to contribute to research through participation in Citizen Science projects.

Projects in collaboration with the Natural History Museum of Denmark

Copenhagen University Library contributes to projects at the Natural History Museum of Denmark, for example by involving public libraries in Citizen Science projects such as Arter (‘Species’) and Find foråret (‘Track the onset of Spring’). The library is also engaged in facilitating physical networking meetings and establishing a Citizen Science network for researchers.
