iThenticate

Tool for detecting plagiarism and self-Plagiarism in texts

iThenticate is used to detect plagiarism and self-plagiarism in original texts. The software screens texts for textual overlaps with other sources from a comprehensive database. A screening highlights passages in the original text that have (almost) identical wording to passages in other sources. The report thus serves as a basis for assessing potential cases of plagiarism and self-plagiarism. iThenticate is used to screen all PhD theses at the University of Copenhagen, but researchers do not have direct access to the program via the university or its library. Researchers who wish to use iThenticate for screening their texts must purchase access for uploads through the iThenticate website.
