Training Plates
The University Library of Copenhagen - Frederiksberg has a large collection of unique picture boards (trainning plates) that have been used in the teaching of anatomy, physiology, microbiology, plant pathology, and zoology for generations at the Agricultural University - from the 19th and 20th centuries.
With the image database, the training plates are digitally accessible to anyone interested in this scientific communication at the university. Some have notes and dates, but not all boards do. Marks from mounting, including pushpins and various damages, testify to their frequent use over time.
Below is a link to these training plates categorized into some width groups. Since the classification of animal species has often changed over time, and these plates are of older date, they are primarily organized according to the classification system used in the Textbook of Zoology by J.E.V. Boas, who was a professor of Zoology at the Agricultural University, and whose book was internationally recognized. In simple cases, however, the placement may deviate from the original taxonomy for the sake of clarity.
All training plates are scanned at 200 dpi and stored in a database with zoom features.
