Research data

Copenhagen University Library contributes to the development of research data management at UCPH and provides a wide range of services in this field. Below, you will find a short description of our most requested services.

Please visit the UCPH Research Portal for more information and support.

Copenhagen University Library helps researchers prepare their Data Management Plans (DMP). In addition to providing general advice, the library offers an expert review of the DMP, in particular to ensure compliance with any requirements from funders and adherence to the UCPH’s Policy for Research Data Management.

The library recommends the use of the DeiC DMP tool for preparing Data Management Plans.

The library offers guidance on questions related to the publication of data, e.g. regarding specific requirements from

  • journals on the availability of data as supporting material
  • funders on Open Access to research data

The library helps researchers in finding a suitable research data repository and assists in assigning Digital Object Identifiers (DOI) and usage licenses. Additionally, the library advises researchers on how to make their data more visible and useful for broader application – or in other words: FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable).

The library supports researchers on the use of copyright protected data as well as licensing their own data when making them useable to others.

The library provides expertise in data management for research projects at UCPH. The service is offered in different ways, such as

  • writing assistance for sections on Open Science and/or data management in grant applications
  • writing or review of Data Management Plans
  • secondment as a data manager in research projects

The latter service is dependent on resources and must be arranged well in advance of the project application. Currently, the library is participating with two data managers in two different Horizon Europe-financed projects at UCPH.

Research data management is part of several courses that the library regularly offers to PhD students and – in collaboration with UCPH Research & Information Security – for Horizon grant holders. An overview of all courses is available at the UCPH Research Portal.

Upon request, the library also offers customised workshops and train-the-trainers programs on Data Management Plans and FAIR research data.
